Yes, you can get a grant for external wall insulation with the ECO3 scheme. To be eligible, you need to be:
- A home-owner on a qualifying benefit; or,
- Living in a social housing home rated EPC Band E, F, or G; or,
- Identified as being fuel poor or vulnerable to the cold.
- Able to achieve, or are predicted to achieve, cost savings as a result of the measures.

Why External Wall Insulation?
If your home was built before 1920, there is a high chance that it was built with solid walls (over a third of UK homes have solid walls). Unfortunately, properties with this type of wall are not efficient at keeping heat in. In fact, solid walls let out twice as much heat as cavity walls. You can resolve this with External Wall Insulation (EWI), which will keep your house warm and decrease the amount it costs to heat it.
EWI also protects the exterior of your home by filling in cracks and gaps, preventing damp, and making your home more weatherproof and soundproof.
Another benefit of external wall insulation is that it also keeps your home cooler during the summer – a win win.
How Is External Wall Insulation Done?
At Towy Valley Heating, we secure insulation boards to the outside of your home. These are covered in a mesh to reinforce the boards, and then a base coat is applied. Once this is dried, we will give your home a decorative finish – giving it a whole new look and reducing your bills.
